Well Training and Restorations

By October 16, 2013March 22nd, 2015water

Last week, Vox hosted well training and restoration workshops in the Macomia District of Mozambique (Africa). A total of 10 master well mechanics were certified. During the field training, mechanics were able to rehabilitate 4 of 5 dormant wells (that’s clean water access for about 6,000 people!).

The training will be moving on to the Meluco District at the end of this week, and we’ll host an additional certification track for new government appointed recruits. Currently there are 30 identified non-functioning wells in this area. The trainees will work to rehabilitate the broken wells as part of their field training.

We are very excited about this project because it represents everything that we work for in community development—it’s locals teaching locals how to maintain and restore wells.
