Our Work
Sanitation + Hygiene
Why Sanitation Matters—
Because without sanitation, clean water can’t do its job—in rural Mozambique, both must go hand in hand to build a healthier future.
Communicable diseases such as cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, and dysentery thrive in communities with limited or nonexistent hygiene and sanitation practices. To combat these threats, we work closely with communities on initiatives like latrine construction, hygiene education, and waste management.
Operation Trident
Our 3-prong approach to health & sanitation
Operation Trident tackles the root causes of preventable diseases. It’s not charity—it’s transformation.
3 Areas of Focus
Community Refuse
Unmanaged trash poses a significant health and safety risk, especially for children. The breakdown of plastics and metals contaminates soil and groundwater, leading to birth defects, cardiovascular diseases, and cancers.
We educate community members about these dangers and collaborate to develop effective waste management solutions.
Human Waste
Open defecation in rural areas spreads disease through fecal runoff, insects, and human contact— driven by the lack of proper toilets and latrines.
Our approach focuses on community education about the health risks of human waste, constructing latrines in schools, and implementing safe, sustainable waste management solutions at the household level to drive lasting change.
Personal Hygiene
Many communities struggle to maintain proper hygiene due to limited access to clean water, inadequate sanitation infrastructure, insufficient health education, and poverty.
To address these challenges, we conduct interactive workshops on personal hygiene, partner with community leaders to develop hygiene guidelines and policies, and offer incentive grants for installing household wash basins and providing hand soap.
Disease hides in plain sight—in the stagnant water, uncollected trash, and the daily routines. Safe sanitation is the difference between surviving and thriving.
