Making it Sustainable

Cabo del Gado, Mozambique: Vox is currently working with Food for the Hungry and Cowater on a two-fold clean water sustainability project in northern Mozambique. To ensure the sustainability of new and rehabilitated water access points, local well mechanics must be trained and equipped to provide effective check-maintenance and repairs to well pumps when needed.

Over the next month, approx. 40 well mechanics representing the districts of Nangade, Mocimboa da Praia, and Palma will be receiving comprehensive training and certification. Workshops include theory and field demonstration. The workshops will culminate with the attendees applying their training by restoring and retrofitting eight non-functioning wells.

The workshops will be conducted in each of the three districts and will serve to improve the sustainability of the hand-repair network and spare parts supply chain in northern Mozambique.

Vox would like to thank Food for the Hungry, Mozambique and Cowater International for their partnership, leadership and investment in the project.
