Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, yet millions around the world still lack it. My journey in Mozambique has revealed the stark reality of this issue and the challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned along the way. Join me as I recount my experiences working to ensure clean water for communities in Mozambique, a country rich in natural resources yet struggling with infrastructural challenges.
I went to Mozambique back in 2008, wide-eyed and full of plans, but a waterborne disease nearly brought everything to an end, even my life. I remember the fever hitting hard, blurring the lines of time, days slipping away in the dim light of a hospital room. I was lucky; I recovered and made it out. But as I lay there, feeling every ounce of weakness in my body, one thing became clear: no one should have to go through that. I made a promise to myself, right there, that I’d come back to help. Clean water first. Something so simple, so basic—but for some, it’s everything.
When I came back to Mozambique, I wasn’t alone. Lorie, my wife, was with me, steady as ever, believing in this mission as much as I did. She saw what I went through, felt that same fire to make a change. And soon, we weren’t just two—we had a team of people, all of us drawn together by something bigger than ourselves. This wasn’t just about bringing clean water to a region; it was about restoring hope, health, and dignity. Together, we became more than just people with a plan.
We became a force united, each of us carrying a piece of that promise, determined to make a lasting difference
Years have passed since that first trip, but the commitment remains as fierce as ever. What began as a promise in a hospital bed has grown into a lifelong devotion to the people of Mozambique. Every well, every glass of clean water, every healthy child strengthens our resolve. But we know this mission isn’t just ours—it belongs to everyone who believes in the power of unity and compassion. We’re calling on others around the world to join us, to see how their story, too, can be part of this change. Together, we’re building more than infrastructure; we’re building a future—one where no one is left behind.
