The dusty schoolyard of EPC Sansão Mutemba in rural Mozambique now has something new in the air: hope.
For years, this school served over 640 students without clean water. The nearest water source was nearly a kilometer away, and without bathrooms, students and teachers had no choice but to use the bushes or ask nearby families for help. It’s hard to focus on learning when your basic needs aren’t met. Harder still to dream big when your reality feels like survival.
But this time—things were different.
We had just completed a water and sanitation project in partnership with our longtime friends at GMB. Together, we’ve shared a belief that education is about more than books—it’s about dignity, health, and hope.
And now, for the first time, EPC Sansão Mutemba has clean water right on school grounds. Bathrooms. Handwashing stations. A safe place to learn, to play, to just be kids.
Together, we’ve shared a belief that education is about more than books—it’s about dignity, health, and hope.
Attendance is rising. Illness is down. Children are staying in class longer and dreaming a little bigger.
But the change doesn’t end at the school gates. The whole surrounding community now has access to clean water—mothers, fathers, younger siblings, grandparents. What once felt impossible is now woven into everyday life.
We didn’t do this alone. GMB has been with us since the early days—designing spaces where learners can truly thrive. They don’t just build buildings; they build opportunity. And we know one thing for certain: we’re better together. Every partner. Every supporter. Every voice that says, “Yes, I want to help.”
Because clean water isn’t just about infrastructure. It’s about keeping promises, honoring potential, and lifting each other up. It’s about showing up and staying in the story.
This was a big step forward—but it’s only the beginning.
We’re always united in this mission. And we’re inviting others to join us. To believe that clean water is just the start of something so much bigger.
